PACKING FOR YOUR LABOUR / DELIVERY

Assalamualaikum. Salam sejahtera.

Seriously, semasa menulis log entri ni, teringat kali pertama masuk labour room.

3. Tuala dan tuala kecik.

4. Toiletries
- berus gigi, ubat gigi, sabun, syampu, bedak. Semuanya dalam travel size kit. Jangan lupa mandi wajib selepas bersalin.

5. Snacks & minuman 3-in-1
- Saya suka bawa biskut oatmeal, buah kurma, dan minuman 3-in-1 seperti Horlicks. Cepat kenyang dan mudah. Biasanya semasa dalam labour, kiita tak diberi solid food. Hanya soft diet.
My personal favourite. Yummy!

6. Handphone & charger
- lebih elok yang ada Data Plan.

7. Sweater
- sebab yang sama seperti stokin.

8. Maternity bra

9. Breast pad
- 2-3 pasang sudah cukup. Tak perlu sekotak.

10. Maternity / sanitary pad

The one that I'm using. Not too hot, not too mild, just nice. Mustajab lotion from DuniaHerbs

14. Selipar
- Yang tidak licin. Kegunaan untuk ke toilet.

15. Buku pink, medical report, admited letter, reference letter, any medications.

... AND HERE'S THE FOURTH ONE

Wan Syauqina Hasna (Saturday, 6th November 2010)

Again, like my second child, this one came out late and need to go through induction. Supposedly her due date is on 3rd Nov. However, my contractions came in early, as early as 3rd weeks before but all of them are false alarms. But during the routine check-ups & scannings, Dr Delaila (my gynae) told that the baby's already engaged and will be due anytime.

On the 4th Nov, already delayed a day, so the doctor advised me to go for induction. Hubby and I went to the SDMC on the 6th morning, arrived at the labour room at 9.30am. At 11am, put on the drip and start the induction.

At first, I can still stand the pain. But started around 3pm, the pain is really great and I need to request for painkiller injection. Then start from 6pm, the drama begins. The contractions has became more frequent, as frequent as every 5mins. 6.30pm, the baby is coming outtt... I could not remember how many I push this time, but I nearly could not make as I ran out of energy. Finally, with the last 2 trials, the baby came out at 6.41pm. It's a baby girl, weights 2.79kg.

Thank you Allah, for give me safe deliveries of all my babies. Also, I am grateful that my husband was with me all the time in the labour room, to sound the azan and iqamat to my babies.

THE THIRD ONE...

Wan Sakinah Hannah (Saturday, 15th August 2009)

The contraction pains already came in from Thursday night. From every hour, then to every 30mins, and finally to every 15mins on the Saturday afternoon. Luckily my hubby was at home (he was stationed at Johor Bahru that time). So off we go to SDMC (previously was SJMC). I remembered when we were going out, Jannah was crying, to follow us "picked-up the baby".

Once arrived at the labour room, it's true that I am ready to be delivered. Due to Dr Delaila had other case, it was Datuk Dr Siti who will deliver. She checked on me once around 6.30pm, then she went  back home.

At 7.00pm++, I'm ready to delivered. But the doctor's already went home!!! She's already reached her house gate, then she made a U-turn. She reached the labour room just in a nick of time. I started to pushed the baby out. Hey, really, I don't care if she's here or not, I will continue to pushed when the time's here.

But everything went well. The baby came out at 7.31pm. A baby girl weights 2.7kg. It was a miraculous experience, as the pain was quick. I did not have any painkillers nor stiches. Miracles indeed!

MY SECOND

Wan Muhammad Safiiyallah (Tuesday, 8th May 2007)

This baby supposedly due on labour day, 1st May. But I did not go into labour on that day. So, it wasn't a labour day for me. After a week, and still no signs of labour (except for the minor contraction pains - the Braxton Hicks contractions), I was advised by my gynae, Dr Delaila, to go for induction.

Tuesday morning, 8th May, both hubby and I prepared ourselves to go to SJMC. We reached there at 10.00am, directly go to labour room. When checked the baby condition, his heartbeat is actually weak. Then I was put into drip & the induce started. The pain started to came, and I requested for an epidural. After the epidural started to work, I experienced less pain, but I was bedridden - couldn't sit up, eat, etc. Only had plain water.

Around 3.00pm, I can feel the contractions started to became more frequent. (Yup, even with epidural, the pain was still there. Just imagine if without them). At 3.40pm, I safelu delivered a baby boy weights 2.91kg. But due to the epidural effect, which makes me can't move from my waist to bottom, I need to stay at the hospital for 2 days.

THE DAY IT ALL BEGINS... MY FIRST NEWBORN

Wan Syazwina Jannah (Wednesday, 6th July 2005)

My contractions started on Tuesday night, 5th July. It was my first time experiencing the contractions pain, so it was a painful experince indeed. I was at my Mama's house, due to my hubby was working at Simpang Pulai near Ipoh (about 2 hours++ drive from Subang Jaya). Funny thing was at the same time, he was also experiencing stomachache & constipation.

On the 6th morning, a bit of blood came out. My contractions was already into its 15mins period. It was my parents who drove me to Selangor Medical Centre, Shah Alam and when we reached there, I was directly sent to the labour room. The time was about 9.30am.

My hubby reached the hospital about 11am. He sped all the way. And a week later, we received the traffic summon for overspeeding.

The doctor who delivered the baby, Dr Yern even asked me to stopped pushing because she just arrived at the labour room and just about to put on her gloves. After pushing 2 times, the baby came out. At 12.58noon, I safely delivered a baby girl weighed 2.43kg. As soon as she came out, the doctor put her on my stomach, stark naked. I was shocked by her action, but when I saw my baby's beautiful eyes, all the pains just disappeared. It seems like she was looking at me too.

Smile sayang...
